The best case scenario for the Power Points System is if all FBS teams knowingly compete based on it rules while playing equal maximum game regular season schedules versus FBS competition only. Of course, such conditions do not exist. Nevertheless, it is important to see how this system has fared under imperfect conditions. Among the 78 teams listed above, 54 placed in the AP, BCS, or CP top two and 67 placed in the AP, BCS, or CP top three. Among the 11 teams ranked fourth or lower, only two occurred during the past 22 seasons and both benefitted from the lack of equal maximum game regular season schedules.

  

Between the AP, BCS, and CP, 74 different teams placed in their top two. 20 of these teams did not place in the PPS top two in either the all games or FBS games only standings. Among those 20 teams, 15 were only one game result changed (among all games played that season) from a PPS top two finish. Four others were two games removed and one team was three games removed.
